AI Translate
With AI Translate, you can conveniently create professional translations of your content in multiple languages within seconds.
Setup
AI Translate is an optional feature. To enable it in a Storyblok space, navigate to Settings > AI Settings and check Enable AI Translation. Furthermore, at least one additional language needs to be configured under Settings > Internationalization. Please refer to our Internationalization guide to learn more.
Translating a story
Translate a whole story at once by opening the Languages menu in the Visual Editor {1}, hovering over a language other than the default language, and choosing the AI Translate option represented by the magic wand icon {2}.
A modal will open, providing the option to Overwrite fields that have already been translated before initializing the translation.
Once the translation has been completed and applied to this language version of the story, you can revert the changes by using the Discard AI translation updates button located next to the Languages menu.
This approach will take into account all fields enabled for translation by activating the Translate toggle with the globe icon next to the field name.
Translating individual fields
Alternatively, you can choose to translate fields individually. First of all, select a language other than the default language from the Languages menu in the Visual Editor. Next, enable a field for translation. In the submenu, select the AI Translate option represented by the magic wand icon {1}.
A modal appears, instantly generating and previewing a translation. Selecting Generate New Translation will generate new translations that may vary from the initial one. Pressing Add Translated Content will insert the text in the field.
Usage with the Dimensions app
When using the Dimensions app, no languages have to be defined in Settings > Internationalization, and fields do not have to be configured as translatable.
Using the AI translate feature, a new, fully translated alternate version of a story can be created (if no clone in the target folder has already been created) {1}. Alternatively, once an alternate version has been created in a target folder, AI translate can be used to translate a selection of fields {2}. In either case, the story that is currently being viewed is unaffected. The translations will become effective in the draft version of the linked alternate story.
