Founded in 2000, Compagnon is one of the best-known recruitment agencies in the Netherlands. They help people and organizations be successful in the labor market. Compagnon offers complete solutions for recruitment, employability, and HR management. Their major focus is on contracting HR professionals.

Before moving to Storyblok, Compagnon was using a custom-made CMS that lacked flexibility, integration capabilities, speed, and independence for the content team. Storyblok’s Partner, Touchwonders, helped the Compagnon team achieve its goal of moving to a modern, future-proof tech stack. With Storyblok, they now enjoy a much faster website where content is updated 3x faster than before. The new website has an astonishing SEO Lighthouse score of 93% and an equally impressive Best Practises Lighthouse score of 95%.

The challenges of a custom-made CMS

Before the switch, Compagnon was working with a custom-made content management system (CMS). Even though the platform was customized for their industry, unfortunately, it posed some challenges. These challenges were due to Compagnon's ambitions for a digital transformation:

  • Lack of flexibility: It was hard to connect the customized industry-specific CMS to other tools for marketing and operational purposes.
  • Developer dependency: Compagnon’s team was dependent on their CMS supplier for updates to the CMS and the tech stack.
  • Content updates: Updating content in the CMS was a lengthy process that caused delays and frustration.

A new and improved website with a future-proof tech stack

To overcome their challenges, Compagnon and Touchwonders decided to modernize the technology stack. An objective that would help deliver a faster, good-looking, and well-performing website. Also, one that would allow the Compagnon marketing and content team to easily create, manage, and deliver content to their new website. To accomplish this, they decided to implement Storyblok into their technology stack.

We chose to work with Storyblok because of its ease of use. It is easily integrated with other back end technologies. But also, with the Visual Editor, it allows for an easy and great front end presentation of content.

Choosing Storyblok as part of the technology stack was an easy decision for Compagnon. They were introduced to it by collaborating agencies who were excited to use it and described it as the CMS of the future.

Bob Roders, Marketing Manager at Compagnon, was responsible for migrating the content to the new website. In his experience, it took less time than anticipated. The fact that it was extremely easy to train team members on the platform helped a lot. Thanks to this, he could get the support he needed. In fact, it took only 2 hours of official training to get the whole marketing and content team at Compagnon onboarded onto Storyblok’s CMS.

Storyblok for an efficient and relaxed content management environment

Storyblok has proven to be the right choice for Compagnon. The team enjoys working with the CMS. More specifically, here are some of their favorite features:

  • Reusable Components: The ability to copy-paste existing bloks from one story to the next enabled the Compagnon team to achieve a 3x cut in the time it takes to manage their content.
  • Visual Editor : Storyblok’s Visual Editor allows the Compagnon team to quickly update the website content in real time. Having the ability to Preview the content before publishing is a huge improvement and has saved the team a lot of time and frustration.
  • Image Editor: Storyblok’s Assets Library has an Image Editor built right into it. For the Compagnon team, this means they can easily do image and video edits directly in the CMS, without the need to use additional apps or depend on their design team for small edits.
  • Integrations: Having a composable technology stack and a headless CMS allows for new tools to be integrated into the platform. For Compagnon, that means they can integrate their Applicant Tracking System, forms, marketing automation tools, scheduling tools, and more into their website.

Storyblok offers us a very relaxed content management environment. Being able to copy-paste bloks and reuse them in the creation of our landing pages saves us a lot of time. Also, being able to edit our images and videos in the Image Editor is a huge win!

Today, with the help of Storyblok, the Compagnon team manages all their website content. This includes landing pages, forms, gated content, and more. They now have a modern website with one very special effect: The company logo, a beautiful tulip, floats through the website giving it a unique look and a welcoming touch.
